Singapore recalls two products over the presence of pesticide

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has issued a recall notice for two products of the Mie Sedaap brand after detecting a pesticide in the food products.  SFA has directed Sheng Sheng F&B Industries to recall Mie Sedaap Korean Spicy Soup instant noodles and Mie Sedaap Korean Spicy Chicken instant noodles due to the detection of the pesticide ethylene oxide.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has issued a recall notice for two products of the Mie Sedaap brand after detecting a pesticide in the food products.  SFA has directed Sheng Sheng F&B Industries to recall Mie Sedaap Korean Spicy Soup instant noodles and Mie Sedaap Korean Spicy Chicken instant noodles due to the detection of the pesticide ethylene oxide.

Mie Sedaap is a brand from Indonesia and the affected product Korean Spicy Chicken instant noodles product has an expiry date of May 21, 2023, and the Korean Spicy Soup has an expiry date of May 17, 2023.   

The Singapore Food Agency mentioned in the press release, ethylene oxide was detected in the product Haagen-Dazs ice cream products in August 2022, SFA surveyed other food products, including instant noodles for the presence of ethylene oxide. Ethylene oxide was not detected in any of the food products surveyed other than Mie Sedaap instant noodles. After the survey, Hagen Dazs products were also recalled.
