Namoi Cotton, Australia’s largest cotton ginner, unveiled a new industry-leading Cotton Ginning Development Pathways Program. The program aims to attract and develop a new generation of talent for the Australian ginning sector which will benefit the broader cotton industry.

Recognizing the critical importance of attracting younger individuals to the ginning industry, Namoi Cotton has taken the lead by introducing a TAFE accredited Certificate III Engineering apprenticeship designed to build the skills needed for a career in cotton ginning.

Tim Watson, Executive Chair of Namoi Cotton Limited, emphasized the strategic focus and long-term benefits of the program.

“Our Cotton Ginning Development Pathways Program underscores our strategic vision to attract and develop talented individuals who will contribute to the growth and success of our business. By nurturing a skilled workforce, we are positioning ourselves for sustained growth and remaining at the forefront of the industry.” explained Watson.

In addition to the formal qualification, the Program also equips participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed through hands-on experience and mentoring. Watson highlighted the importance of attracting new talent and younger individuals to the ginning industry for the broader Australian cotton industry. The Cotton Ginning Development Pathways Program addresses the immediate labour needs and ensures the strong and skilled workforce needed by the industry while creating careers in rural areas.
