Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister Le Minh Hoan had a reception and working session with Mr. Choi Young Sam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to Vietnam.
Minister Le Minh Hoan expressed his joy and honor to welcome the Korean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The two countries Vietnam – Korea have a strong and long-standing friendship. On this special occasion, the Minister would like to thank the Korean Ambassador for actively promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries in general and the Agriculture and Rural Development sector in particular.
The Minister said that during his business trips to Korea, the Minister was deeply impressed when witnessing many achievements in the field of agriculture, from scientific research, high technology application in production, Agricultural product processing, achievements and investment policies, sustainable development are things that Vietnam wants to cooperate and share experiences in the coming time.
With the world’s constant fluctuations and efforts to recover and develop the economy and society after the Covid-19 pandemic, the role of the agricultural sector has become especially important, both economically and socially. society and the environment. Vietnam is gradually implementing the sustainable agricultural and rural development strategy for the period 2021-2030, vision 2050, with 3 pillars “Ecological agriculture – Modern rural areas – Civilized farmers”. To achieve those goals, in addition to domestic efforts, Vietnam needs the support of international friends, especially Korea.
To implement the vision of Vietnam – Korea cooperation in the field of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Minister requested the Ambassador to pay more attention and promote cooperation in the following 6 areas:
- Cooperate, research and develop eco-tourism and community tourism models associated with trade promotion of specialty agricultural products in rural Vietnam.
- Cooperate and develop digital transformation application models to build smart and civilized new rural communes (Seamaul Undong Movement is very effective and widespread in Korea).
- Develop smart agricultural models, sustainable development, reduce emissions and adapt to climate change in key production areas.
- Cooperate and specialize in technology transfer to develop circular agriculture models for a number of industries with great trade potential between Vietnam and Korea.
- Improve agricultural and food supply chain policies and systems to meet the requirements of new generation trade regulations.
- Build an agricultural trade data bank and improve database standardization capacity to serve the digital transformation process in agricultural trade management.
