Wind with Purpose (WWP), a Perth-based onshore and offshore wind developer, has tied up with compatriot Quenda Wind Power Pty Ltd (QWP), a subsidiary of Japanese trader Sumitomo Corp, to jointly advance an over 300-MW wind project in Western Australia.

The Marradong Wind Farm that will be built southeast of Boddington, in Western Australia’s South West region, will help decarbonise industries by supplying green energy volumes, WWP. Together with QWP it will now work towards obtaining a development approval.

The future wind park is expected to generate around 1 TWh of electricity per year, which will help offset around 557,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.

The partnership follows WWP’s collaboration with consultancy Barrington Energy Pty Ltd and the Gnaala Karla Booja Aboriginal Corporation (GKB) for a 2-GW offshore wind project in Western Australia. The company said it is growing its portfolio in its home state and also plans to expand its reach to Ireland. It aims to deliver more than 5.5 GW in wind capacity across both Western Australia and Ireland.
