ECO Animal Health Group plc has commercially launched ECOVAXXIN MS, its vaccine against Mycoplasma synoviae (M. synoviae), across the European Union, marking a significant milestone in the company's transition from research and development to commercial vaccine innovation. The launch was officially unveiled at a dedicated event in Madrid, Spain.
The introduction of ECOVAXXIN MS represents the first product to emerge from ECO Animal Health's proprietary research and development pipeline, strengthening the company's presence in the global poultry vaccine market and expanding its portfolio beyond anti-infective therapeutics.
The vaccine has been developed to provide active immunisation for future layer and breeder chickens from four weeks of age, helping protect flocks against diseases associated with Mycoplasma synoviae infections. It is designed to reduce air-sac lesions, foot-pad lesions and egg production losses, improving both flock health and production efficiency.
Addressing a Costly Poultry Disease
Mycoplasma synoviae remains one of the most economically significant bacterial pathogens affecting commercial poultry production worldwide. In laying hens, infections can reduce egg production by approximately 5 to 10 per cent, while also increasing disease-related welfare concerns and production costs.
By reducing the clinical impact of the disease, ECOVAXXIN MS aims to help poultry producers improve flock performance, minimise production losses and enhance overall farm profitability.
Andrew Buglass, Chief Commercial Officer, ECO Animal Health, described ECOVAXXIN MS as a best-in-class vaccine supported by the company's established commercial infrastructure and extensive European distribution network.
He said the company expects the vaccine to deliver meaningful health and productivity benefits for commercial layer and breeder operations while providing a strong platform for future growth across key poultry-producing regions.
Leveraging an Established Commercial Network
ECO Animal Health plans to commercialise the vaccine through the extensive distribution network it previously established for its poultry antimicrobial brand Aivlosin.
The company has already secured strategic distribution partnerships across major poultry-producing countries in the European Union, providing access to markets representing more than 220 million layer birds annually.
This established commercial footprint is expected to accelerate product adoption while ensuring broad availability of the vaccine across Europe's key egg-producing regions.
Global Expansion Plans Underway
Building on the European launch, ECO Animal Health is pursuing regulatory approvals for ECOVAXXIN MS in several international markets, including the United States, Latin America and Asia, reflecting growing global demand for advanced poultry disease prevention technologies.
The international expansion strategy aligns with increasing industry efforts to strengthen preventive healthcare through vaccination as poultry producers seek to reduce disease-related production losses, improve animal welfare and optimise antibiotic stewardship.
With poultry production continuing to expand worldwide and pressure mounting to improve productivity through sustainable disease management, the commercial launch of ECOVAXXIN MS marks an important step in ECO Animal Health's ambition to establish itself as a leading innovator in poultry vaccines and livestock health solutions.
