The acting Gorontalo Governor of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, Hamka Hendra Noer shared in a recent press meet that Executive Committees (EXCO) Malaysia intended to do corn import from Gorontalo Province due to increasing chicken consumers in Malaysia. According to recent statistics, nearing to 30 % of Malaysia population consume chicken and interestingly major portion of these consumers feed corn to their chickens due to corn’s high nutritional values.
The acting Gorontalo Governor Hamka further shared that Malaysia imported corn from Brazil and Argentina so far and need more than 40 days for the shipping. Hence Malaysia is implementing its strategic planning to import corn from Gorontalo due to faster procurement and better quality is better reasons. Adding to this, shipping to Malaysia from Gorontalo only take 14 days.
Hamka, who is a expert staff in the Ministry of youth and sports of the republic of Indonesia also added that the Exco agriculture and Infrastructure Malaysia had earlier visited Gorontalo in January to initiate the discussions.
