A innovative circular economy project
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions (RD) with the Government of Egypt in Cairo, as part of the Science and Technology Research Partnership to convert agricultural wastes into plastic products.
The innovative Sustainable Development project is themed “The Project for Utilization of Agricultural Wastes for Plastic Alternative Productions to Establish a Circular Economy”.
A circular economy project has been signed between the governments of Japan and Egypt to utilize agricultural wastes for plastic alternative production. The key players int he project would be “Japan University of Science and Technology” and “The University of Tokyo, University of Tsukuba”.
Policy recommendations are presented for bringing agricultural waste into the manufacturing sector, thus promoting a circular economy, using plastic alternatives developed from agricultural waste.
In an effort to promote circular economy and develop plastic alternatives through the use of agricultural waste as an alternative to plastic, Japan and Egypt signed a record of discussion for a Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development.
The project is scheduled to be implemented over five (5) years after Japanese experts arrive in Egypt or five (5) years after the online kick-off meeting takes place after the R/D is signed.
