The multinational FMC has announced the launch of Resuris fungicide (Fluindapyr and Chlorothalonil) in Brazil. This product features fluindapyr, an active ingredient exclusive to FMC.
FMC has introduced Resuris, a new fungicide designed to combat “spot” diseases in peanut crops in Brazil. Featuring two active ingredients—Fluindapyr, exclusive to FMC, and Chlorothalonil—Resuris offers operational versatility with no need for tank mixing. According to Luís Grandeza, FMC’s manager, the product combines two modes of action: chlorothalonil inhibits enzyme formation in fungal metabolic processes, while Fluindapyr blocks production of the SDHI enzyme essential for fungal metabolism.
Field tests conducted in partnership with agricultural consultancy Herbae demonstrated that Resuris outperformed leading market products, delivering an average yield increase of 11 per cent. Grandeza emphasized that this innovative solution aligns with FMC’s commitment to delivering technology-driven, sustainable, and profitable crop protection.
Resuris is recommended from early applications for its preventive effect and longer residual activity, protecting peanut crops effectively. Fluindapyr, also found in FMC’s Onsuva fungicide for soybeans, corn, and cotton, has proven successful, especially in controlling Asian rust.
According to USDA data for the 2024/25 season, Brazil ranks as the world’s eighth-largest peanut producer, expected to harvest over 1.18 million tons—a 239 per cent increase over the past decade. However, spot diseases can cause up to 70 per cent yield loss due to early defoliation.
Resuris can be applied via ground spraying (manual or tractor-mounted) or by air, depending on crop-specific recommendations.
