A total of 414 plots of land with a total area of 3,300,524 square meters or more than 330 hectares are available
In order to support the national food self-sufficiency program, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) is prepared to support the management of confiscated land managed by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of the Republic of Indonesia. A portion of the confiscated land will be used for rice farming by one of them.
A strategic cooperation agreement (PKS) was signed at the Attorney General’s Office Main Building, Jakarta, by the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (JAM INTEL), the Ministry of Agriculture Secretariat General, Pupuk Indonesia, and Perum BULOG.
This strategic cooperation is an implementation of the Government’s priority program as stated in Asta Cita, according to Reda Manthovani, Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (JAM Intel) of the Attorney General’s Office. According to Asta Cita, one of the goals is to encourage national independence through food self-sufficiency.
“We must support, because this is a noble ideal of the President so that we can achieve food self-sufficiency. One of the government policies that supports this is the cessation of rice imports starting in 2025 and the target of absorbing 70 percent of the total 3 million tons of grain set by the National Food Agency,” said Reda Manthovani.
AGO initiated the Independent Food Prosecutor program to support food self-sufficiency through the use of land seized by the state from corruption crimes and other crimes in order to achieve this goal. This cooperation focuses on the utilization of land seized by the state which is currently managed by the AGO.
As part of this cooperation, there is a pilot project aimed at optimizing assets from the corruption case (tipikor) of PT Asabri (Persero) involving Benny Tjokrosaputro in Bekasi Regency. A total of 414 plots of land with a total area of 3,300,524 square meters or more than 330 hectares are available. The land will be used for rice cultivation to meet national rice needs.
The President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi, expressed gratitude to the Attorney General’s Office for implementing the program. Acording to him, a harvest of 1,650 tons of rice could be harvested on 330 hectares of land in Bekasi per season if each hectare produces 5 tons of rice.
Cooperation will also be supported by those responsible for coordinating the provision of agricultural cultivation facilities and infrastructure needed for land utilization. Perum Bulog, however, acts as an agricultural offtaker, in other words, it purchases the results of land utilization.
Additionally, this synergy is being established to develop the competence of Human Resources (HR) in the field of food self-sufficiency through extension activities, seminars, and discussion groups. Farmers’ groups (poktans), community groups, and other parties that support national food security are targeted by this program.
In this agreement, each party has the following roles:
• Attorney General’s Office: Coordinating the provision of planting land.
• Ministry of Agriculture: Coordinating the provision of seeds, agricultural infrastructure, and coaching of farmer groups.
• PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero): Coordinating the provision of fertilizers.
• Perum BULOG: Coordinating the purchase of harvested crops.
Furthermore, this cooperation involves the exchange of data and information for early detection of potential legal issues, as well as socialization activities, human resources development, and other technical matters.
The agreement will last for three years. The Government plans to accelerate food self-sufficiency by 2027, so that it can contribute optimally to national food security.
