As global attention shifts to climate change, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (“Zoomlion”) accelerates its ecological transformation roadmap to promote sustainable development. This initiative is part of the company’s responsibility to ensure a sustainable future through product innovation and the development of new energies.
Climate change affects every region and every person on Earth. For a better global future, António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, stressed that renewable energy is the only credible path to avoid climate catastrophe and that the only sustainable future is renewable.
Zoomlion’s eco-innovation in action
The core of Zoomlion’s green transformation roadmap lies in creating world-class green products and building sustainable factories through R&D and establishing design, manufacturing , ecological management and standards.
Green manufacturing : As of June 2023, Zoomlion has put into operation a total of five smart factories and 170 smart production lines. These include the earthmoving equipment park and a smart tower crane factory within the Zoomlion Smart Industrial City, as well as smart concrete mixer truck and hydraulic valve factories.
In its Changde tower crane factory, Zoomlion has implemented environmentally friendly production techniques, such as water-based paint, environmentally friendly electrophoresis and frequency conversion technology. These measures reduced welding fumes by 90% and VOC emissions by 70% and saved 15% energy.
In October, the China-Belarus Industrial Park was named one of the Global Best Practices under the United Nations Global Compact for its strong commitment to sustainable development practices.
Ecological management : Zoomlion has digitized the management of R&D, processes, manufacturing, sales, services, etc., to establish a methodology for evaluating the entire process and chain. This approach enables comprehensive, efficient and environmentally friendly operations.
Eco-friendly products : As of December 2022, Zoomlion launched 156 new energy equipment covering 13 product lines, from engineering to agricultural machinery. This equipment includes pure electric, hybrid and hydrogen options, as well as battery swap or plug-in charging methods. Zoomlion has achieved many world firsts, the latest being the release in October of the world’s first agricultural machine powered by new energy.
Green Projects: Zoomlion’s construction machinery has supported major clean energy projects around the world, including the world’s largest wind power project in ultra-high altitude areas exceeding 4,500 meters in the autonomous region of Tibet in China and a major wind turbine lifting project in Turkey.
