A new Syngenta Portal allows farmers, growers and agronomists to access vital weather data and digital crop management tools on the go, so they can make more informed and effective decisions regarding their crops. Using the Syngenta Portal app to support agronomy decisions on a daily basis ensures growers are up to date with the very latest information and advice.
The Syngenta Portal app also integrates with the company’s “Partnership Plan loyalty programme”, giving growers access to their account, topical recommendations, new products and valuable offers. Members can view their available rewards, including gift cards from popular retailers, 3D ninety nozzles and a wide range of Apple products. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play.
An advanced digital agriculture app for smartphones and tablets, Syngenta Portal, taps into a vast global database of weather metrics to present relevant information to farmers. Syngenta agronomists and application specialists have chosen the easy-to-understand weather metrics for their impact on crop growth.
Agronomy tools in the new Syngenta Portal include the BlightCast model, which provides a 7-day advance warning of disease and infection at a farm location and helps growers adjust their blight control tactics accordingly.
Potato and sugar beet farmers can use the QUANTIS Heat Stress tool to predict temperatures that might cause damaging effects on roots. QUANTIS™ can assist in mitigating temperature impacts at tuber initiation, as well as through the entire growing season. Having advance warning allows growers to take preventative action and apply QUANTIS™ at the optimum time.
Syngenta BYDV Assist, a highly popular and highly regarded app, will be available starting this autumn. Additionally, it creates a platform for further cereal disease forecasting models and crop management support in the future, according to Ed Flint, Syngenta Customer Loyalty Lead.
“Using these tools enables farmers and agronomists to foresee potential risks before they impact on the crop, and in time to take appropriate preventative action,” he advises.
Syngenta Portal also integrates elements such as spray window opportunities to optimise application timing and enables in-depth interrogation of the weather data, such as rainfall, soil moisture and soil temperatures, to better understand the implications for crops at an individual farm level.
“It now goes one stage further, by providing direct links to solutions and techniques that will help in decision making and practical applications, including essential product label and safety data sheet information,” Ed points out.
