Commences a new project to improve pig farming value chain in Vietnam‘s Ninh Binh province
The Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics (DTS) in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Vietnam’s Ninh Binh province held the ground-breaking ceremony at the Tam Diep Nuclear Pig Breeding Research Station for the project “Setting up a smart farm” on July 8. To set up the smart farm and improve the pig farming value chain in Ninh Binh province Korean Government has released a grant of 3.5 billion Won (equivalent to more than 3.1 million USD).
Aiming to improve the pig farming value chain in Ninh Binh the event was addressed by Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien, Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc – Chairman, Mr. Tran Song Tung – Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Committee and Mr. Hyun Jong Nae – Director of Korea International Agriculture Program. Country in Vietnam (KOPIA).
Vietnam is the third largest trading partner of Korea only after the two leading economies in the world, the US and China. Leaders of the two sides have set a target to increase bilateral trade turnover to $100 billion in 2023, an increase of about $13 billion compared to 2022.
Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics (DTS) is funding and leading the implementation of the project “Setting up a smart farm and improving the pig farming value chain in Ninh Binh, Vietnam”. The Korea Agency for Education, Promotion and Information Services for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS) is part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of Korea Country (MAFRA).
In order to provide a demonstration model of a smart farm that uses intelligent Korean advances along with the application of information technology from production to consumption of pork for Ninh Binh province, the Tam Diep Nuclear Pig Breeding Research Station, Quang Son Commune, Tam Diep City, Ninh Binh Province, was selected as the location for construction in order to provide consumers with high quality and safe food.
This is the second project of the Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics (formerly the Center for Informatics and Statistics) after the project of establishing a smart and safe agricultural product value chain in Vietnam. The Potato, Vegetable and Flower Research Center (PVFC) Da Lat, Lam Dong is now in its second year of implementation. The project aims to establish a smart and safe agricultural product value chain with tomato, bell pepper and strawberry crop products and the production chain is carried out from production to preliminary processing and distribution to the market school.
