Korean and Malaysian livestock organizations inks MoU to enhance information communication technology (ICT) exchange and cooperation in the livestock sector
Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Malaysian livestock organizations to enhance information and communication technology (ICT) exchange and cooperation in the livestock sector. The primary focus will be on Real time monitoring of farm environment, Livestock feed activity and behavior analysis, Provision of solutions for specification and disease management.
With the signing of the MOU between the Korea Livestock Technology Association, which oversees livestock ICT, and the Malaysian Poultry Association, it is expected to lay a foundation for expanding K-Smart Livestock infrastructure in Malaysia, with an aim to enhance agricultural productivity (IR 4.0) through smart technologies, such as big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Korea-Malaysia Agricultural Ministers’ Meeting was held on May 12 and the Korea-Malaysia MoU was extended as part of the follow-up measures to enhance agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
MAFRA Minister Chung Hwang-keun along with Korea Livestock Technology Association Chairman Kyung No-kyeom, Malaysian Poultry Association President Kwei Yew Tong along with Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture officials and livestock farmers organizations, and members of the department graced the signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Sim Zhi Zhan, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia stated, “Through this opportunity, we will share knowledge, experiences, best practices, and business opportunities in areas such as Korea’s advanced livestock ICT innovations, along with the Korean wave, and explore collaboration opportunities.”
In December of last year, Korea Livestock Data Co., Ltd., a domestic smart livestock management service provider, signed a service supply agreement for “Farm’s Plan,” a livestock health care solution through video data analysis, with a Malaysian broiler farm (Pong Cheong Farm, with a scale of 160,000 heads). Since April of this year, the Korean smart livestock company has been operating the Farm’s Plan hardware and services at the local farm.

Jeong Kyeong-seok, Director of Livestock Policy at the Ministry, expressed, “We plan to actively support the overseas expansion of domestic smart livestock equipment and solution companies through; (a) Discovering promising export companies and models in the smart livestock sector and launching demonstration projects; (b) strengthening information and administrative support for overseas expansion; and (c) quality certification for information communication technology (ICT) equipment and services.”
