New alternative to soil fumigation controls plant-parasitic nematodes, soilborne pathogens, and pre-emergent weed seeds in all crop soils
Kemin Industries, a global ingredient manufacturer that strives to sustainably transform the quality of life every day for 80 percent of the world with its products and services, has launched RevoCURB™, a new FIFRA 25(b)-exempt soil treatment designed to address the limitations of traditional fumigants and provide a safer, more sustainable alternative for both organic and conventional growers.
RevoCURB is a powerful and versatile three-in-one solution that functions as a nematicide, fungicide-bactericide, and herbicide, providing an effective pre-plant or post-harvest soil treatment. Formulated using Kemin’s proprietary emulsifiable concentrate formulation, RevoCURB combines the power of four essential oils—thyme, clove, garlic, and cinnamon—to deliver broad-spectrum control of plant-parasitic nematodes, soilborne diseases, and pre-emergent weed seeds.
“The introduction of RevoCURB is a game-changer for both organic and conventional growers with its unique formulation and multiple modes of action that ensure comprehensive pest control,” said Dr. Bridget Hatfield, Technical Services Manager, Kemin Crop Technologies. “We’ve tested RevoCURB on many different fields with various soil conditions, and we observed stunning improvement in crop yields compared to standard chemistry. We’re thrilled to offer a safe new tool for growers to integrate into their soil preparation program.”
RevoCURB offers a safer, more flexible solution for today’s growers. With no buffer-zone requirements, it can be confidently applied near municipalities and high-population areas. RevoCURB’s worker-friendly profile requires only minimal personal protective equipment and carries a zero-hour restricted entry interval, allowing workers to re-enter treated areas immediately after application. Designed for maximum convenience, RevoCURB is compatible with a wide range of standard application methods, including drip tape, micro-sprinklers, soil drenches, and overhead irrigation systems.
“For years, soil fumigation has been the go-to solution for managing soilborne pests and diseases in specialty crops, however, growing environmental concerns, regulatory pressures, and the unique needs of organic farming are driving a shift toward safer, more sustainable alternatives,” said Emily Fuerst, General Manager, Kemin Crop Technologies. “Organic growers, in particular, face significant hurdles in soil disinfestation due to the strict prohibition of synthetic chemicals, longer pre-planting timing, and expensive procedures. RevoCURB represents a significant advancement in soil health management. By leveraging the power of essential oils and Kemin’s expertise on them, we are providing growers with a safer, more cost-effective and efficacious solution that meets the demands of modern agriculture.”
