Regulatory improvement proposal addresses six major green bio fields: Seeds, Microorganisms, Food materials, Natural products, Veterinary drugs, and Insects, and allied organizations
S. Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is launching the ‘Green Bio Talk’, a regulatory improvement system, to resolve on-site regulatory difficulties faced by green bio companies.
Starting this year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has been systematically assessing the current state of the industry through the Green Bio Business Reporting System and promoting corporate support based on this information. The newly established ” Green Bio Talk ” expands this foundation and serves as a communication channel that connects regulatory obstacles with practical institutional improvements. The name ” Green Bio Talk ” embodies the commitment to listen to voices from the field and reflect on them in policy.
Green Bio Talk operates by receiving regulatory issues encountered by field entities such as companies, universities, and associations in the form of proposals, and linking them to system improvements after review by experts and relevant ministries in each field. This year, proposals will be accepted from August 18 to September 19. The submitted proposals will be organized by the six major green bio sector hub organizations, and the necessity and feasibility of improvements will be reviewed through expert advice. Afterwards , the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will finalize whether or not to make improvements after consultation with relevant ministries, and will promote system improvements for adopted proposals.
This system will move beyond the current meeting method that focuses on simple suggestions and establish a support system that enables history management as well as follow-up inspection throughout the entire system improvement process.
The regulatory improvement proposal targets the entire green bio industry, including six major green bio fields: seeds , microorganisms , food materials , natural products , veterinary drugs , and insects , and any related company or organization can participate .
Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency (KOAT) is dedicated to fostering the green bio industry. An official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said, “ Green Bio Talk will function as a new policy platform that increases the effectiveness of regulatory reform and reflects the voices of the industrial field in the system. The government will continue to actively support innovation in the industrial field through regulatory reform”
