Strengthens economic and trade cooperation with Belarus
Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Novyan Bakrie (Anin), held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich at the Kadin Indonesia Tower on December 16. The meeting focused on strengthening economic and trade cooperation, with discussions on investment opportunities and strategic industries.
Anin highlighted several areas of collaboration, including the fertilizer industry, agricultural productivity, and the industrialization of heavy equipment. Belarus, a major supplier of potash to Indonesia, is seen as a key partner in boosting agricultural output through technology and mechanization. Opportunities for heavy equipment production, such as buses and large-capacity tractors, were also discussed.
Additionally, the meeting explored Belarus’ potential to tap into Indonesia’s vast halal market. Anin emphasized Belarus’ strategic position as a gateway for Indonesia to expand economic ties with the Eurasian region, particularly in light of the upcoming Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) discussions.
Trade between Indonesia and Belarus reached approximately USD 400 million in 2025, and Anin expressed optimism that the CEPA could significantly increase this figure. The agreement, which includes other Eurasian nations like Russia, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, is expected to open broader market access and accelerate economic growth.
The meeting was attended by several Kadin Indonesia leaders, including Shinta W. Kamdani, Juan Permata Adoe, and Bernardino M. Vega, among others.
