A significant step for Indonesia and Korea in upholding sustainability, promoting digital well-being and advancing digital economy.
Indonesia has launched the Green Digital Economy Platform (GDEP), a groundbreaking international initiative on 13 Sep 2023 . The launch, endorsed by Dr. Moeldoko, Presidential Chief of Staff of Indonesia, represents a significant step for Indonesia and Korea in promoting sustainability, fostering digital well-being and advancing the digital economy. GDEP is led by HumanX, a global partnership promoting human-centered technology, in collaboration with the Maju Tani Movement in Indonesia and the DQ Institute.
This launch follows the 24th ASEAN-Republic of Korea summit held on September 6, 2023, which signed an agreement to promote the green and digital economy, science, technology and innovation, and carbon neutrality in the region.
GDEP is a business collaboration platform that aligns the digital economy and sustainability, pioneering the “cross economy” model, extending beyond the traditional “circular economy” framework. By leveraging Korea’s technological advancements, Indonesia’s vast market and resources, as well as global R&D and investments, GDEP is poised to drive transformative digital innovations in agricultural technology, climate technology and carbon trading. The multifaceted impacts on the digital economy and sustainability will be monitored through the Digital-ESG Index, led by the Digital-Related Financial Disclosure Working Group.
GDEP will engage a broad network of multiple stakeholders in both countries to turn the vision into reality, fostering a landscape primed for innovation and sustainable growth. Investment in the platform is expected to exceed $1 billion.
