In a move signaling the growing convergence of digital and green revolutions, Syensqo and Microsoft have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive innovation at the intersection of artificial intelligence and sustainable materials science.
The partnership aims to blend Syensqo’s deep chemical and materials expertise with Microsoft’s prowess in AI and cloud computing—particularly through Microsoft’s newly launched “Discovery” platform, announced at the 2025 Build Conference. Syensqo, notably the platform’s main development partner for the chemical industry, will leverage this alliance to accelerate breakthroughs in bio-based polymers, circular composites, and materials for clean energy systems.
“By integrating AI into everything from product discovery to factory floor efficiency, we’re not just accelerating innovation—we’re redefining what’s possible in the specialty materials industry,” said Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo.
The collaboration outlines a vision for co-developing secured cloud systems, deploying generative AI across R&D and operations, and embedding sustainable design principles into next-gen materials. A shared goal is to scale solutions that address the twin imperatives of digital transformation and climate resilience.

Syensqo is no stranger to AI adoption. Its proprietary Syensqo.AI platform already powers tools like SyGPT, a secure generative AI assistant for employees, and SyGrow, an AI-led customer intelligence engine. In research labs, Syensqo is deploying AI to generate and screen millions of molecular combinations, designing new polymers faster and with greater sustainability outcomes.
The MoU remains non-binding but sets the groundwork for future co-investments, knowledge exchange, and tech infrastructure collaborations—including the use of Syensqo’s high-performance materials to support Microsoft’s evolving AI ecosystems.
