High-yield, climate-resilient rice seeds gain traction among farmers as demand grows for sustainable crop solutions
ThaiBinh Seed is reporting strong field performance for its newly introduced rice varieties in Vietnam’s Nghe An Province, as farmers and agricultural officials highlight improvements in yield potential, pest resistance, and production efficiency.
The company’s TBH 456 rice variety has attracted particular attention in local farming communities for its uniform growth, strong tillering ability, and resistance to pests and diseases. Farmers participating in Spring 2026 cultivation trials reported reduced dependence on crop protection chemicals alongside expectations of higher productivity and lower input costs.
Agricultural cooperatives in the region have expanded planting areas for TBH 456 following earlier successful pilot cultivation. Local field assessments indicate strong grain filling, favorable adaptability to intensive farming practices, and resilience under variable weather conditions. Yield projections for the variety are estimated to exceed 7.5 tons per hectare in several production areas.
ThaiBinh Seed’s TBR 125 variety has also shown promising early performance in Yen Thanh district, where farmers cited synchronized flowering, vigorous growth, and strong yield potential during its first production season in the area. Additional varieties including TB 99 and TBR 19 have demonstrated positive field results across Quynh Luu and Nghi Loc districts.
Company representatives said the latest seed portfolio has been developed with a focus on climate adaptation, shorter crop cycles, stronger disease resistance, and improved grain quality to help farmers manage increasing environmental and production pressures.
Agricultural authorities in Nghe An noted that the introduction of new rice varieties plays an important role in modernizing crop structures, replacing aging seed lines, and improving farm profitability. Officials also emphasized the importance of resilient seed technologies as climate variability continues to affect agricultural production across Vietnam.
Beyond product development, ThaiBinh Seed has also supported farmers recovering from severe flooding that affected parts of Nghe An in late 2025. The company provided rice seed assistance to impacted communities to help restore production ahead of the Spring 2026 crop season.
Industry observers say the strong early performance of ThaiBinh Seed’s varieties reflects growing regional demand for climate-resilient agricultural technologies capable of improving productivity while reducing production risks and input dependence.
