Develops data-informed certification
The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is proud to join forces with eFishery, an Indonesian aquaculture technology company, to advance sustainable aquaculture in Indonesia and empower small-scale shrimp farmers in the region.
A key goal in this collaboration is to enhance understanding of the ASC standards within the Indonesian shrimp industry. Local farmers will be supported to achieve ASC certification by eFishery, offering the opportunity for these farmers to access international markets while committing to responsible farming practices.
ASC programme global presence is uniquely placed to link the growing demand for responsibly-produced seafood with seafood farmers who are meeting ASC’s highest standards.
ASC will also work with eFishery to identify opportunities and develop mechanisms to link eFishery’s data collection systems to an always-on, seamless digital audit process that enhances efficiency, accuracy and transparency. This approach will help to streamline the auditing process that underpins ASC certification and provide actionable insights for the continuous improvement of aquaculture practices.
ASC CEO Chris Ninnes said “By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, we’re marking the beginning of a great collaboration which will foster innovation and best practices in Indonesia, as well as contribute to ASC’s development of a fully-digital audit process.”
