Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development inked a bilateral trade deal with Germany’s Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. UNIDO will accompany Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to build sustainable agriculture.
At the exchange, the two sides focused on discussing issues related to cooperation in post-harvest technology, green technology transfer, capacity improvement in compliance with standards and quality; increase added value, and the circular economy.
In addition, the two sides discussed the development of a Food and Food Innovation Center/innovation center for agricultural technologies and sustainable supply chains.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said “Vietnam attaches great importance to international cooperation, attracting foreign investment and technology. In particular, Vietnam highly appreciates the technical support of United Nations agencies, including UNIDO’s special support in technical assistance projects to strengthen capacity for standards compliance and quality of the tropical tree value chain (pilot in Dong Thap province)”
“Strengthening digital application, transferring preservation technology, building a brand, training to improve post-harvest preservation capacity… Vietnam highly appreciates UNIDO’s experience and techniques in the field. processing technology and post-harvest preservation for Vietnamese agricultural products” he added.
“The export of raw agricultural products has not yet innovated in the production of non-renewable agricultural products. The general pattern has limited market access and did not create high added value for Vietnamese agricultural products” according to Minister Le Minh Hoan.
