Partnership to set up an aquafeed mill with a production capacity of 60,000 tons of shrimp and fish feeds.
An aquafeed project named Blue Feeds LLC will be set up in Oman by United Fish LLC and Seapride LLC. In addition to addressing global food security concerns, the partnership will support the sustainable growth of the aquaculture industry.
With their extensive experience in fish processing, fishmeal, and fish oil production, both companies can have a significant impact on the market. A USD 20 million investment has been made by the two fish processing companies to establish a state-of-the-art aquafeed mill at the Fisheries Zone in Duqm. 60,000 tons of shrimp and fish feed will be produced in the first phase of the project.
Construction will begin in August and expansion plans are already in the works. Additionally, the management of Blue Feeds LLC envisions the inclusion of a pet food unit as part of the same project in the near future.
This initiative contributes significantly to Oman’s Vision 2040, and utilizes Oman’s abundant raw materials in value-added processing in line with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources.
