IPORICE 2024 themed “Sustainable Palm Oil Fighting Power for Advanced Indonesia”
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is organised the Indonesia Research and Innovation Expo (InaRI Expo) 2024 in which included series of activates at Indonesia Palm Oil Research and Innovation Conference and Expo (IPORICE) 2024. This activity was held for two days on August 13-14, 2024 at the BRIN Ballroom, Sarwono Prawirohardjo Area, Jakarta.
IPORICE 2024 with the theme of “Sustainable Palm Oil Fighting Power for Advanced Indonesia” presented as a forum for integrating various research and innovations, facilitating collaborative meetings between stakeholders, and exhibiting the latest research and innovation results in the palm oil industry.
Head of BRIN’s Centre for Economic Research, Services and Trade Umi Mu’awanah explained that various determinants have the potential to trigger changes in Indonesia’s role and influence in the global arena. Starting from the development of agro-industry, disruption of information and communication technology, changes in consumer preferences, to environmental issues.
“Its termination brings us back to examine the true performance of national palm oil. In this regard, the support of research and innovation in palm oil is crucial. In recent years, research and innovation have developed significantly by making a real contribution to increasing productivity and competitiveness,” said Umi.
It is hoped that with IPORICE 2024, stakeholders can contribute to realising the vision of an advanced Indonesia, where a sustainable palm oil industry becomes one of the driving forces of national development. Participants were from relevant ministries/agencies, palm oil companies, associations of palm oil companies and farmers, academics, research institutions, civil society organisations, professionals.
The key speakers are scheduled to be Chairman of BRIN Laksana Tri Handoko, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Managing Director of BPBD Kelapa Sawit Eddy Abdurrahman, Secretary General of CPOPC, and Deputy Minister of Defence. The event was organised in collaboration with the Centre for Research on the Economics of Industry, Services and Trade (PR EIJP), BRIN’s Governance, Economy and Public Welfare Research Organisation (OR TKPEKM) and the Association of Indonesian Plantation Companies (GPPI).
The forum provided recommendations on various perspectives on national palm oil governance, challenges, and opportunities, a gathering place for collaborative meetings of stakeholders, to increase awareness of the results of palm oil research and innovation.
