Landmark investment signals Vietnam’s strategic shift toward high-quality, value-added rice ecosystems
In a defining moment for Vietnam’s agricultural transformation, ThaiBinh Seed Group JSC has commenced construction of a VND1 trillion high-quality rice processing complex, marking a bold leap toward building an integrated, technology-driven rice value chain. The groundbreaking ceremony, held alongside the company’s conferment of the prestigious Hero of Labor title, underscores a dual milestone—honouring legacy while accelerating future ambition.
A Legacy Reinforced by National Recognition
The ceremony celebrated ThaiBinh Seed’s elevation as a Hero of Labor, a distinction that reflects nearly 55 years of resilience, innovation, and contribution to Vietnam’s agricultural progress. The recognition encapsulates decades of commitment by generations of leadership and workers who have steered the enterprise through periods of adversity, market volatility, and transformation—emerging as a cornerstone of the nation’s seed industry.
From Seed Innovation to Full Value Chain Control
Positioning itself at the forefront of a rapidly evolving rice economy, ThaiBinh Seed is strategically expanding beyond seed production into end-to-end value chain integration. The new facility represents a pivotal step in this journey, enabling the company to control processing, enhance traceability, and elevate product quality to meet increasingly stringent global standards.
A Next-Generation Processing Hub
Spread across 10 hectares in Quynh Phu commune, Hung Yen, the facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art processing technologies sourced from Japan and Europe, delivering a designed annual capacity of 50,000 tons. Built as a fully automated, closed-loop system, the plant will seamlessly integrate stages from raw material intake and drying to milling, sorting, and packaging—ensuring precision, efficiency, and export-grade quality.
Phased Expansion with Scalable Capacity
The project will unfold in two strategic phases. The first phase will deploy advanced drying towers, high-capacity storage silos using cold-storage technology, and a Japanese milling line, supported by extensive warehousing infrastructure. The second phase will scale operations further, ultimately enhancing throughput to approximately 120 tons per hour, positioning the facility among the most advanced rice processing centers in northern Vietnam.
Catalysing Regional Agricultural Transformation
Beyond its industrial scale, the project is poised to deliver far-reaching socio-economic impact. By strengthening linkages with farmers, cooperatives, and raw material zones, the facility will contribute to the formation of high-quality, concentrated production ecosystems, boosting productivity, improving farmer incomes, and fostering rural development.
Technology Partnerships Driving Excellence
A key differentiator of the project lies in its collaboration with global technology leaders, including Japan’s Satake, renowned for over a century of expertise in post-harvest rice processing. This partnership underscores ThaiBinh Seed’s commitment to embedding cutting-edge innovation and global best practices into Vietnam’s rice industry.
Elevating Vietnam’s Global Rice Identity
As global markets increasingly prioritize quality, sustainability, and traceability, the new processing complex positions ThaiBinh Seed—and Vietnam—at the vanguard of this transformation. The facility is expected to play a critical role in building a premium Vietnamese rice brand, enhancing export competitiveness, and reinforcing the country’s standing in international agri-food value chains.
A New Chapter in Agricultural Excellence
With construction now underway, ThaiBinh Seed embarks on a new chapter—one defined by scale, sophistication, and sustainability. Anchored in its legacy and propelled by innovation, the company is setting a new benchmark for integrated agricultural development, reaffirming its mission to elevate Vietnamese rice on the global stage.
