Bangladesh Government formulating Dairy Development Board Act to overhaul the dairy sector. After formulating the act a dairy development board will be established to take decisions on dairy development.
According to the local media, the board will also look into the issues including government cooperation, market management and monitoring, organising farmers, and creating an environment to sell dairy and dairy foods at fair prices. The proposed act has been sent to the law ministry for vetting after it got an initial nod from the cabinet.
In the last four years, the price of milk at the consumer level has increased by 48 per cent, but dairy farmers have not received a fair price.
