ENA is presently producing high-quality European sea bream, which is sold in the UAE market.
Emirates National Aquaculture (ENA) based in UAE has announced plans to increase its seabream production to 2,400 tonnes a year, after successfully achieving its initial target of 600 tonnes.
ENA has a cage farm at Dibba, Al Fujairah, in the Gulf of Oman. According to ENA, the farm is presently producing high-quality European sea bream, which is sold in the UAE market under the company’s own brand.
By developing sustainable aquaculture to improve food security and close the supply-demand gap for seafood in the UAE, ENA says that it aims to support and advance the vision of the country’s leaders.
The UAE currently has one of the highest per capita intakes of seafood, equating to around 28 kg per person per year. ENA aims to provide the infrastructure and the knowledge needed to grow the country’s aquaculture sector.
