Aims to optimizing agricultural governance in the Agrosolution program, with focus on maintaining food security by using environmentally friendly products
Indonesia’s PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) through the Agrosolution Program has succeeded in increasing rice productivity in Jember Regency, East Java to reach 8 tons per hectare. PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur is one of the strategic industrial companies in Indonesia with five Ammonia plant units and five Urea plant units in one location in Bontang, East Kalimantan and is the subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company.
The first harvest of the Agrosolution Program implemented in Jember was attended by the Director of Production of Pupuk Kaltim F. Purwanto, the Jember Regency Government represented by the Head of the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantation Service of Jember Regency Imam Sudarmaji, Kasdim 0824 Jember, and representatives from the Farmer Group.
The Agrosolution program also encourages the use of non-subsidized fertilizer products by farmers, so that dependence on subsidized fertilizers can be reduced and productive land targets can be achieved more effectively and efficiently. This program is realized through intensive and sustainable assistance, and involves a supply chain supported by technology based on 5P (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership).
Pupuk Kaltim Production Director, F. Purwanto, also emphasized that the Agrosolution Program is supported by Pupuk Kaltim’s superior products that have been proven to be suitable for various types of plants and land characteristics. These products include Urea Daun Buah which has transitioned into Nitrea products, NPK Pelangi, and Ecofert and Biodex biological products.
This program facilitates farmers with various facilities, starting from the provision of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, access to capital, and regular assistance in land management. In addition, farmers are also facilitated with agricultural insurance to anticipate crop failure and guarantees of continuous purchase of harvest results by offtakers above the average market price.
Head of the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantation Service of Jember Regency, Imam Sudarmaji, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Agrosolution Program in his area. According to him, the program is very effective in encouraging increased rice production, supported by the excellent quality of non-subsidized products.
This program also serves as a forum for farmers to maximize production results. Previously, paddy production in Puger District reached 7 tons per hectare. He also invited farmers in Jember who had not joined the Agrosolution Program to participate.
By optimizing agricultural governance through the Agrosolution Program, farmers’ welfare can be significantly improved. This program is not only intended to increase agricultural productivity, but also provides certainty of periodic purchase of harvests.
