ASC’s Feed Standard tackles one of the biggest drivers of the environmental and social impacts of aquaculture. The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has announced, feed mills can apply for certification to ASC’s Feed Standard which covers legal, social, and environmental requirements for both the feed mill’s own operations and for the suppliers of ingredients used in their feed production. The EU is a major palm oil importer and the law agreed to in December, has raised an outcry from Indonesia and Malaysia. Malaysia and Indonesia, the world’s largest palm oil producers, have decided to jointly deal with the latest EU act on deforestation affecting palm oil exports. China’s top planning body has asked slaughter firms to increase commercial stocks of pigs to help revive market demand and drive up sluggish hog prices.
